Ministries
Fifty Plus

Fifty Plus is a ministry for those, who though they may be 50+, are young at heart.  The group focuses on the “3F’s”: food, fellowship and fun.  What a winning recipe!  The monthly gatherings are typically held on Saturday evenings and have been growing in popularity.  Games nights, travel presentations and special speakers ensure a fun time for all who participate in this vibrant group.  In addition, the group also enjoys several road trips a year to places of interest. It’s easy to join. All you need to do is show up!  But, if you would like to learn more about this vibrant ministry, contact Ken and Thelma Shewell or any of their leadership team.

Singly Trusting

Singly Trusting is a ministry for those who are single or single again.  They are a diverse group who in the past have met together for prayer, for social times, fellowship, potlucks and movies. The focus has been on supporting each other while building new friendships.

The ministry is led by Mary Wilson and Linda Death, who have a strong burden to help people, regardless of age, during this very difficult time.  The focus of Singly Trusting is firmly on God and how He can help people not only cope but also find hope during a vulnerable stage of life.  If you are in this situation and wondering what to do, or know of someone who may benefit from this connection, please contact Mary or Linda to get more details or find out the date of their next event.

Ladies Missionary Outreach

A group of dedicated ladies, desiring to serve God through practical means, forms the Ladies Missionary Outreach. Whether it’s knitting, collecting necessary materials to help those in need or other useful efforts, this is  showing God’s love in a tangible way.

The LMO is headed by Marg Diebel and Iris Price; but, is assisted by a number of other people who make this a vibrant outreach to those in need.

Their current project has been knitting and crocheting for the Canadian Cancer Society and making afghans for Hospice Wellington. This helps GBC with its desire to be a blessing to the local community.

Because of our commitment to help those around the world as well, a wide variety of goods and material have been gathered over the years to be sent overseas. In the last shipment, 48 boxes of material, including 12 boxes of medicine, were shipped to Africa.

Missions

Honduras Mission TeamGBC actively supports a number of people and organizations in other parts of the world who are dedicated to bringing the love of Jesus Christ to those who do not know him.  This may be teaching or preaching; or, it can take the form of bringing medical services and even well-drilling to areas where there are none. The common denominator is doing it in the name of Jesus.

This past year, we helped build a home in Cuba for an abandoned mother and her family. As well, we sent a ministry team to the Honduras to help construct a training center.

In addition to the Mission’s Committee, which administers our mission’s ministry and is headed by Graham Sawer,we also have a group, known as the Ladies Missionary Outreach, that actively collects supplies and goods to help people around the world, including our Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministry.

By supporting these ministries, we too can help bring the gospel to the world!
